"So, when are you getting married?"

 *pic credit to quizony*

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone!

Alrightey singletons!
The Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays are already here. In few days there’ll be family gatherings, visiting family members from one house to another.
Now, brace yourself! No, not for those scrumptious food, honey. Even before you are able to touch the ketupat, lemang, kuah kacang and lodeh on the table, you will have all the aunties and uncles (and even cousins!) asking you the million-dollar question: "So, when are you getting married?"
Okay, let’s face this. I am at the age where woman should already be married. Worse, both of my baby sisters are married (now they get a new question "When are you having babies?") and I’m the only daughter left, so yeah, the question comes a lot more frequent than you can think of. I understand now that this question has become a norm in every culture, as even the Western culture does this. As I also watch a lot of K-Drama, I can also conclude that it happens over there as well.
To be honest, I hate that question. I loathe it with a passion.
I don’t quite understand why the question is even needed to be asked in the first place. Basically, if I were to get married, my father would only need to tell one of his sisters and poof! The whole extended family would know then.
Yup, we have our own version of CNN, you know.
Anyway, like I said, I loathe the question with a passion. Well, let’s face it, when you’re asked, the only answer you could provide is “InsyaAllah, bila dah jumpa jodoh,” (God’s willing, when I have met the right person).
And as usual, they would respond that I’m being picky.
Ok people, I am being picky. I think I have the right to do that.
This is my whole life we’re talking about. If I were to marry this guy, he would be the person I shall devote myself to, he would be the father of my offspring, he would be the one to share my burden and he would be the person I shall love until after the day I die. Well, I can’t surely pick anyone on the street, can I? Or just marry the next guy who wants to befriend me.
And I’m a Libra, I suck at making decision. I can’t even decide whether to get the blue or emerald green handbags and it’s been over a month of thinking now.  *sigh*
It’s not like I am allergic to the opposite gender, I do have acquaintances but you know, to feel those butterflies in the tummy and to have the chemistry only we both would have are just not there yet.
And let’s talk about trust issues people.
Oh God. There is nothing worse you can do as a human being than to give hopeless hope to the hopeful ones. Seriously guys, if you tell a girl you like her, we girls understand it as you like us, literally. So if we flirt back it means we also like you. It’s not anything Newton or Einstein.
It’s pure human understanding.
It is very wrong that you take her feelings on a fun carousel and then after a few months you announce you’re getting married..to another girl.
At this moment, I usually would feel grateful I’m not marrying such guys.
Me and my friends have been through this a couple of times and everytime we talk about it, we still couldn’t come up with any single reason as to why would a sane, educated human being act that way. It’s just very immature.
Anyhow, going back to the issue of the million-dollar question, I believe when people ask you they are either concerned or just plain busybody. I’ll take that they’re usually concerned, especially the older family members.
My parents recently told me that they pray they’d live a long, healthy life to be able to watch me get married. It was almost heartbreaking to hear that but it’s not like I don’t want to get married, God knows how I really want to have my own little family. HE knows well because I pour my heart out to HIM through my prayers, every single day. I believe in HIM and I want to believe that it’s not my time yet. HE probably wants me to enjoy what I’ve always dreamed of, which is travelling and other things that I love like spending time with my parents and sleep like a starfish in my bed.
At loneliest times, I would just look at my glass half full –I have close family and friends, a great job and time for myself to travel, read novels, watch movies and like I said above, sleep like a starfish in my bed
Hence singletons, cherish the time you still have. Do things you have always wanted to do. Go join a marathon or climb a mountain or go travel and watch God's amazing creations around the world; you don’t get a job just to spend all the time at work and end up not living the life you’re working for.
To the next person asking us the question, let’s just respond with “God is indeed the best planner, let’s leave it to HIM,” while stuffing batang buruk in your mouth. Trust me, they won’t dare asking you anything else after that
You're welcome.

p/s To all Muslims, Happy Eid and to those not celebrating, happy holidays!

TwentyFourteen

Happy 2014 people!
I know I didn’t blog for the whole half of 2013 –I was plain lazy to be honest. I had the time but most of it was spent on either family and friends gatherings or me sitting in front of the laptop watching Korean dramas.
I really need to stop watching those K-Dramas. They’re just so highly addictive I wish I had the money to buy the biggest monitor available in store so I can have full view of those gorgeous actors and actresses.

Anyway, 2013 was a year that left me with the sweetest memories.
Well, not that I finally had met my soulmate or become a millionaire, but I think I did my best to enjoy 2013. I travelled to few countries with friends and family, spent more time with real friends, had a chance to teach new subjects at work and I turned 28 feeling the best that I had ever felt.
I can say that I have finally found serenity in everything and looking at circumstances positively because things happen for many reasons. Some reasons are difficult to comprehend or just meant to be mysterious.
In the end, I believe God knows what’s best for me.
When 2013 started, I wished it would be a year I’d find my soulmate but I didn’t. Or haven’t.
Nevertheless, 2013 helped me to be closer with my Maker and my own soul. It was a great journey for this old soul. I appreciate small things better now.

So 2014, I am all ready for you!
This year I want to spend less shopping on more things I already have and save more to travel the world. It may not be easy since I don’t earn tens of thousands a month but hey, when there’s a will, there’s a way.
If in between those ways I found my soulmate who also loves to travel, then dear God, please make it easy for us to start of that eternal journey.
Amin.

Here are some random pictures that made up my 2013!

*my dear friends got married!*

*went to Sandakan, Sabah twice for a dear friend's engagement & wedding*
*the food was fantastically amazing!*

*more shoes & handbags! opps!*
*aaaand finally fulfilled my dream to visit Ireland!*
*yessss that is Bryan McFadden of Westlife baby! we were in the same flight!*

Apart from my friends' weddings, visiting Ireland was the highlight of my 2013.
Have always wanted to visit Ireland since I became a fan of Westlife. And to actually met Bryan in flight was out-of-the-world-awesome!
Ireland is such a beautiful country. I love every bit of it especially the lovely hosts.
InsyaAllah will visit them again in future.
I thank Allah SWT for this opportunity. Alhamdulillah.

Dreams do come true, people.
Just have a bit of patience and work hard for it.
For God is always looking after you, listening to your prayers.

Till we meet again in the next post. Hopefully soon!

Dear 2013, be nice.

Another year has come to an end.
It was a great year which felt super short.
But yeah, it was great.

Let's reminisce the events that took place which I can still remember vividly.
Not much, I've to admit. I'm bad at remembering stuff.
I guess blogging is a way to help me keep everything "recorded".

Firstly, of course, the night where I watched Big Bang live at Stadium Merdeka for their 2012 Alive Tour.
I am not sure why I haven't blogged about that. It was one of the best nights of my entire life but I just couldn't put the "best" words to really describe the whole event.
People say seeing is believing but I honestly took quite a long moment to "believe" the boys were really standing right before my eyes. There were thousands of people around me but all I could hear was the boys' voices.
Cheesy, I know.
But I swear those who went must have felt the same...
Seungri's adorable smiles.
GD rapping to 'One of a Kind' and 'Crayon'.
Dae's angelic voice.
Taeyang danced full of swag.
And TOP's neverending legs...oh God those legs are like heaven sent! So perfectly in shape, and toned at the right places...darn it I'm obsessed with a pair of legs I think I'm not normal. Other girls would be like "Aah TOP's hot!" "He's damn good looking!" and I was like "Can I lay my hands on those legs?"
Watching the boys performed in one night was just not enough, I wish I could attend their show in other countries as well.
Money, please grow on trees.
*sigh*

Well, let's move on before I start flooding the whole page with Big Bang.
Pardon me as I'm a huge fan of them at the moment. So just let me fangirling while I still can.
(^.^)
I honestly can't really remember what else happened in 2012 except that I went to Jakarta twice in April and September (Once is really more than enough. Really.), Aish graduated from kindie (he's growing too fast!), I bought a Fujifilm Instax Mini 25 which I had been eyeing since forever, I discovered GMarket and never looked back (LOL!), I also bought my first Cambridge Satchel which I wrote about it here and of course, the weddings of my beautiful and handsome friends which I attended after so many mental fights about what to wear, which shoes and handbags and the perfect gift for each couple.

As 2013 creeps in, I am somehow grateful that I mostly think of good memories for 2012.
This is how it should be and I can never be thankful enough to be a better person rather than being bitter.
I may not have an exciting love life but Alhamdulillah, I am blessed with loving family and great friends who always stand by my side.
Thank you Allah s.w.t.

So adieu 2012, you taught me well.
Bring it on, 2013!

*I've stopped making new resolution since years ago because I wanted to enjoy the surprises.  Life's too short to start chasing things in the dark.*

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1432H

I hope it's still not too late to wish Muslims a joyful Eid this year.
May Allah s.w.t. bless you and your family with happiness and endless love during the celebration.
Alhamdulillah we still manage to celebrate another Eid.

Jom main bunga api!
=)

selamat berpuasa =)

*pic goggled*

It's the first day of Ramadhan today.
I am truly blessed to be able to berpuasa and bersolat terawih with my family this year.
Nothing is more beautiful than to spend this holy month with your loved ones.
I promised myself to embrace this month and asking God for his forgiveness for the sins I have committed in the past.
And to ask for His blessings for my family and for every decision I have made.
Selamat berpuasa.
Embrace this Ramadhan like it is your last and you'll appreciate it more.
=)

Best 2010 Memories!

Okay, so 2010 is ending and 2011 is really happening anytime soon.
How do I feel?
Hurm, there are ups and downs in my life along 2010.
But I have to admit it's one of the most exciting, fantastic years of my life!
Where should I start?

I remember starting off this blog in late 2009.
*smile*
It was just for fun, not the kind of blogs where I write the happenings of my life all the time.
I just wanted to share my views of the world, what I like and loathe.
And up until this minute I'm still glad I started blogging.

There were two best things happened in 2010.
First, I visited London and Paris.
I know I only wrote first part of the trip and kept procrastinating the other parts but I promise, one sweet day I'll post pictures of the two amazing cities in the world!
London is a shopping heaven and people are so warm and friendly and I so wanna live there!
I wanna go to the numerous museums every week, stroll along Oxford Street every other day and picnic at Hyde Park, just sitting there reading good novels all day throughout summer!
Oh God, what I would give for that to come true!
And Eiffel Tower, Paris? It's Eiffel Tower darlings! It's one of the 'must-go-places' before you die!
I would want to visit Paris again.
Thanks to Air Asia, it doesn't seem too impossible now!
Anyway, the next best thing happened in my year 2010 must absolutely be meeting Adam Lambert!
Oh yes honey and it was the best five minutes of my life!
I got lucky during his Glamnation Tour on the 14th Oct 2010 at Bukit Jalil where I met him backstage before his phenomenal concert started.
I am a huge fan of him and meeting him was not even in my wish list just because I thought it's never gonna happen!
It was a-mah-zing!
Plus, I didn't only meet him, I also won an autographed Glambox!
Schweeet!

*that's me in my purple heels next to Adam!*
*i looked bloated. whatever*
*For Your Entertainment CD, music videos VCD, remixes & a glam mouse pad!*

2010 will also be most memorable because I turn 25 this year.
God, my age is a quarter century. Okay let's not go into details about my age.
hahahaha
Another reason 2010 is a good year is because of the great movies all year long.
Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Parnassus (okay, not so great but Heath Ledger over-the-Everest-top-amazed me!), Nine, Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans, Shutter Island, Prince of Persia, Inception, Takers (Paul Walker!!), Toy Story 3, Rapunzel...
I haven't watched Narnia and The Tourist, by the way.
Will probably do early next year ;)

What else huh? Hurmmm...
Oh I bought my first smartphone, a Blackberry Curve which has been fantastic so far! A reason I have a Twitter account now.
And oh, I bought my first Marc Jacobs!!! *pengsan*
I went to Penang twice and Cameron Highlands thrice this year for holidays. My parents just love CH too much.
I have developed some sort of romance feeling with Chuck Bass. Darn those salmon suit he's wearing! He looked so good in it!
My darling friend Nashima got married. I cried. Her wedding was my wedding of the year ;)
I dreamed of Ian Somerhalder every night. Well, almost every night. But none in those dreams he bites my neck or sucks my blood. I prefer him doing so. muahaha
I bought almost ten pairs of shoes.
And one thing I am so glad happened this year would be passing all my M.Ed subjects. The final semester was the toughest!
*humongous smile*

So what have I not achieved this year?
Love.
Not wanting to be mushy here but it's nice to have someone you're excited to have dinner with or watch movies together. Or just knowing you're loved.
Well, good things are worth waiting for.
=)

This year there's less drama, just more great times with my family and friends.
My nephew is getting smarter these days. He's getting into pre-school next year. Oh please don't grow too fast sweetheart!
I also spend too much 'bonding' times with my friends -karaoke, steamboat, road trip, lepak melepak, gossiping, shopping!

I have a great, fantastic, amazing and wonderful 2010!
I am not yet a millionaire but I am forever grateful.
I thank Allah for everything, for leading the way for me. For all the wonderfull-ness around me. For the blessings HE gives my family and friends. For the strentghs I have in me to go through every fear, worry and sadness. For the rezeki HE showers my family. For my tears and laughters in becoming a better person.
All praises to Allah.

So come quick 2011!
I have nothing to be worried of but to live life to the fullest!
Happy new year everyone!
May you have a blast!
Leave the past behind and look forward for great things to happen!
See you next year!
Cheers!
=)

Talking to the moon...

I should write more often.
I told that to myself thousands time already.
I.hate.procrastination.
But I still do it anyway.

First and foremost, Salam Ma'al Hijrah.
May Allah forgive our wrongdoings throughout whole last year and bless us with endless happiness throughout this new year.

And to Christians all over the world, Merry Christmas.
Hope you had a blast, tore lots of gift wrappers, ate too many good food and got badly drunk that you couldn't even remember whether you brush your teeth the night before.
Okay, just kidding.
Happy holidays.

Everytime Christmas is over, we know one thing for sure.
The year is meeting its end, too.
Ugh.

Happy Eid ul Adha!

Alhamdulillah, we live for another Eid ul Adha.
May Allah bless us, our prayers and our qurban (sacrifice).
I am more than grateful to be with my family on this beautiful rainy day.
Hope you had a blast, too.

Everything about colours!

I know it's already waaaay past the festival but I just need to include this amazing coloured-rice grain art.
Snapped this picture at Pavilion KL looooooong ago when I was out having lunch with some friends.

Yup, those were all rice grain people!
Nice work!
Apart from muruku, this is what I look forward most every year.
Happy belated Diwali!

Happy Twen-teen Five!

Okay so I am a quarter-century-th years old now.
I felt old.
Like, really old.
Then I looked into the mirror and saw the same face, the same chicken-pox scars and almost pimple-free skin (yeah, right!) and thought,
"I'm still me. Nothing has really changed."
Age is just a number, peeps. I should have known that.

Thank you all for your warm wishes and prayers.
I really appreciate that.
I'm stepping into a new age with bliss and I'm glad I grow old with wisdom.
I am grateful for my lovely family and friends.
I am a slow learner but still, education is for life.
Experience is the best teacher.
A friend once quoted, "don't just stay alive, learn to live your life."
That would be my new resolution now.
hahahaha

Anyway, my sister bought me a cake from Secret Recipe. Guess what she wrote on top of the cake:
I know!
Not helping, right?!
She should have written something like, 'stay cute' or 'happy 25th'.
Wait until it's your turn, darling sis.
*wicked smile*
No big celebration, though, just a small and nice family dinner.
I guess I'm passed those big parties.
I already had amazing parties when I was younger.
Once I had a party at KFC Taman Melawati where my daddy reserved the whole space on the first floor and invited almost all of my classmates. Even teachers!
I had the prettiest dress on, pink mary-janes and long socks.
*where did i put all of the pictures?!*
I also had multiple birthday celebrations at home, delicious homemade birthday cakes and fun games- musical chair was a must-have!
And I've to admit, the only moment I looked forward would be unwrapping the presents and reading aloud birthday cards!
Those were the days.
*sigh*

I would also like to wish Happy Birthday to my fellow Librans out there!
I am still indecisive but I feel like I have been more strong-headed.
I hate being indecisive!
It's not fun when you take too much time deciding whether to eat 'nasi goreng kampung' or 'nasi goreng cendawan'.
They're still nasi goreng, for heaven's sake!
I should learn to decide faster from now on.
Sometimes my brain just stops functioning when the menu has almost 100 types of food.
I don't think I'll ever be a restaurant entreprenuer.

Happy 25th birthday to me!
More great years to come!
Bring it on, baby!

I hope it's not to late to wish everyone
'Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri'!
Maaf zahir & batin.
May Allah bless us all.

Have a blast!
I know I do.
*wink*

Goodbye 2009! Hello 2010!

Happy New Year peeps.
May GOD bless you throughout the year with happiness and success.

I don't make resolutions.
Simply because I'm a Libra and Libran is born to be indecisive.
I may want to lose weight in 2010 and by 7Jan10 I'd be telling myself "What the hell. I'm not fat. I'm healthy. No, I'm hot!"
Then in February I may want to start jogging again.
So no new year resolution for me.
I don't need it.
Because it's just another year for me. Another year full of experience that would soon become my guru for life.
I'll take the road less taken. And may the mosquitoes join me.
May the force be with us.

-qils-
*Autobots, roll out!*

Merry Christmas everyone!

I always adore Christmas decorations.
It's just lovely.
The Christmas tree & its decorations. The gingerbread man. The candy cane. The snow flakes.
I swear if I ever experience a white Christmas, I'm gonna cry like hell. Because it's just so beautiful.
It's not that I prefer Christmas over Hari Raya but I can only see green for Hari Raya decorations. And Christmas is all colourful. And I love that.

Anyway, my daddy has made it a yearly vacation to visit KL every Christmas because of the decorations. He says every year that it reminds him of the Christmas-es he experienced back in Scotland when he was studying.
I wish the government would convert all the money my daddy paid for income tax yearly into my PhD scholarship in UK. Darn!
I always wonder what happen to the money. Maybe to pay for the ministers' luxurious cars or the enormous mansions on top of the hill.
Well, I said 'maybe'.

And so we stayed in KL on Christmas weekend and went to KLCC, Sogo, Midvalley and around KL. Just eating, window shopping (I swear I only window shopped! No shoes, bags or clothes!), making fool of ourselves in Toys R Us where we end up buying Twister! Seriously, playing Twister in hotel room was definitely a mess! First the space is so tiny. Second, you're going to laugh and scream at the top of your lung like nobody cares. Not good.
I believe there's always a little child trapped in my body. *wink*
And I can't believe I'm quite flexible. haha..

*bewitching ya!*

*something I would beg my daddy to buy me if I were 8!*

Anyway, happy holidays everyone. New year is coming up.
Cherish & appreciate your loved ones.
And your time left on this earth.
Cheers!
